Indy Gateway will be breaking ground in late August on two more houses on S. Vine Street, just north of West Washington Street. These houses are part of Indy Gateway’s private contractor partnership new home build program. In 2020 and 2021, Indy Gateway completed two homes on Naomi Street in the Drexel Gardens neighborhood. These will be the first new home builds on the north side of West Washington Street in the Rhoades Elementary neighborhood.
The private contractor partnership began in March 2018 with the rehab of two houses near the West Washington Street corridor. The first houses, which were bought through ReNew Indy and listed on the Marion County Tax Sale list, were transformed and sold to qualified homebuyers. Today, they are tax-generating properties that benefit our local entities and improve the neighborhood. The houses are in federally designated low- and moderate-income areas and have been made possible through the assistance Central Indiana Community Foundation, INHP, Fed Ex and MIBOR REALTOR® Association grant funds.
