Indy Gateway has partnered with a private construction company to begin its first new home builds. Three new homes are scheduled to be built by next summer. Two of the houses will be built in the Drexel Garden neighborhood on Naomi, and one will be built off West Washington Street on South Vine Street. Indy Gateway plans to break ground on the first one—a three-bedroom, two-bath, 1550-square-foot home—by the end of September.
These new build projects align with Indy Gateway’s commitment to promote home ownership and provide more access to affordable quality housing options. The project also furthers the organization’s focus on increasing property values, repurposing vacant properties and transforming them into new and renovated homes. Lastly, the initiative provides workforce housing options to support the many businesses located near the Indianapolis airport.
